TAVISTOCK AC's Sam Lane de Courtin took bronze at the sainsburys school games at the weekend in Sheffield.

Sam (pictured right) represented the south west in the 1500 steeplechase and set a new life time best time of 4.22.78, knocking six seconds off his previous best time set at the English schools championships in July, were he came fourth.

The multi-sport school games offered a new experience for Sam, with 1,600 athletes competing across 12 different disciplines in Sheffield and it has rounded off the Callington College student's best season to date.

Sam will now move on to the cross country season.
