Hannah Russell, 16, and Michael Jones, 18, of Kelly College were in action at the DSE Championships in Sheffield last month, coming home with a host of medals, personal best times and British records.

Paralympian Hannah, who joined Kelly College in September, competed in five events and won all of them. Her 400m freestyle event was just outside her own world record and was outstanding in terms of pacing. Her 100m freestyle was won in a new British record time as was the 50m freestyle, being the first time she had swum under 28 seconds. Other events won were the 100m backstroke and 100m fly.

Michael, who has been at Kelly College for the last two and a half years, and in his first competition since having major surgery on his leg, did some outstanding performances winning two gold and two bronze medals.
