COTEHELE Quay Gig Club's ladies' veterans crew are delighted with the support they received while serving up fundraising breakfasts at Harrowbarrow Village Hall.
The ladies took £870.85 for around 100 cooked breakfasts, generating an anticipated £700 profit to go towards the cost of a new plastic training gig.
Squad leader Fiona MacInnes praised the group which made the event so successful.
She said: 'It was a slick and efficient team, both in the kitchen and front of house. A number of club members donated ingredients which made a big impact on the profit. We had a great turnout from club members and the local community.
'A new plastic gig is going to be a welcome and important addition to the club's assets. With growing numbers of competitive and social rowers the new gig will make all the difference to our training facilities.'
The club's two wooden racing gigs will shortly come out of the water for winter maintenance, meaning the 100 rowers would have been left with just one plastic gig to train in until spring.
The new plastic boat costs more than £9,000 so the club is undertaking a large-scale fundraising drive and has attracted great support from the local community.
