DEVON Bowls president John Theedom and Devon Bowls ladies president Margaret Brotheridge teams came with players from all over the county to North Tawton Bowling Club on September 8.

The club has announced that the building of its new clubhouse would start at the end of September and hope to be finished in May 2016. Chairman Mike Thwaites greeted and thanked the guests, the hard working secretary Gordon Denham before cutting the first ‘sod’ for the the new clubhouse.

Mr Theedom said that this new facility would be most welcome by Bowls Devon and would be of great benefit to the North Tawton members, visiting teams and the North Tawton community as a whole.

There then followed a friendly game.

North Tawton BC captain John Kinsey praised the North Tawton Bowlers for their effort not only for this day but also over the years for getting the club into its present position.
