Feniton v Yelverton firsts

YELVERTON travelled to Feniton looking to build on their successful start to the season.

Skipper Rich West lost the toss and Yelverton were asked to bat on a slow track.

The visitors started well with both opening batsman making their debut.  Jordan Mitchell played well for a patient 36.  Rich West matched Mitchell with 36 to hold the Yelverton innings together and they were eventually  bowled out for what appeared to be a below par score of 128.

Some tight bowling restricted Feniton's reply early on and as the pressure built, wickets fell steadily throughout the innings with all the bowlers chipping in.

The stand-out bowler was 15-year old Dan Cooper whose 4-12 put Yelverton in a strong position.

Nerve ends were jangling as the game went to the final ball with Feniton on 127-9 and all results possible.

As the last Feniton pair looked for the single to tie the game, Iain Cunningham ran-out Feniton's last man to finish the game with Yelverton winning by one run.

The 17 point haul from the game leaves them five points clear at the top of the table.
