WITH heavy overnight rain leaving many roads in East Devon underwater it seemed that a boat might be the only way to get to the start of the Bicton Blister race organised by Exmouth Harriers.

However, runners are a tough breed, and undeterred, a few members of Okehampton Running Club arrived last month to contest the race along with 398 competitors.

The ten mile route over Woodbury Common was inevitably a little wet underfoot.

ORC chairman Andy Vallance came in ninth overall, saying the run to have been 'great fun' with stalwarts  Mervyn Rice and Sarah Haigh also competing.  Times: Andy Vallance 1hr 08mins 56secs,  Mervyn Rice 1.29.41 and Sarah Haigh 2.00.57.
