IN the Tavistock Snooker League West Devon A took Conservative A's unbeaten record in a close fought battle last Thursday.

Conservative A took the early initiative with Carruthers beating Taylor in a comfortable encounter. Their lead was further stretched with Longden fighting off a late comeback from Heathman, who was celebrating his birthday; despite leaving him a present of a pink which Heathman refused for Longden to take and with it the frame. Emptage pulled one back for West Devon by potting a superb pink and black to inflict a rare defeat on Con A's Evans. Rich drew West Devon level with a couple of 20 plus breaks to overcome Cook. The winner for West Devon came courtesy of a solid 'match play' game from Hall who left nothing for a frustrated Con A's Bell.

West Devon C were unlucky not to get more from another close game with Conservative B as they narrowly went down 2-3.

West Devon took the early lead as Grigg kept his composure to take out one of Con B's dangermen Andrews as the frame went right down to the wire.

Ewings edged out a battling Decieco to pull the Con's level. The fast improving McKetchnie took the Con B's into the lead as he took out Dave Elliott. The match was secured for Conservative B's by Lillicrap overcoming a fighting Shrimpton. Performance of the night came from West Devon's Williams as he beat Evans in a close finish.
