CONSERVATIVE B have been known in the past to turn on the style and this was another such example as they made a major dent in West Devon A's Tavistock Snooker League title hopes with an audacious 3-2 win in the latter's own back yard.

The three 'heroes' were M McKechnie, M Evans and Lillicrap who pulled out the frames that did the damage. Monk came close to making it four but lost on a black ball finish against West Devon's Morris.

The only other plus for West Devon on the night was a regulation win for K Rich although Con B's Ewings gave it a good go before falling.

Conservative B again this season are showing that they are able to mix it with the best and if only for a touch more consistency could have been genuine title contenders.

In what can best be described as a casual start, Symons for Conservative Z handed the first frame to a far from casual Williams of the West Devon C team. Symons became the first casualty of the evening.

Despite a promising start by Con Z captain Palmer, an unbridgeable gap was opened up by Pinkney. It was a valiant but inevitably doomed effort by Palmer against a master tactician, who made it 2-0 to West Devon C.

Something special was needed from the Con Zs to rescue the game and it came in the shape of Jock Jankowski, whose own brand of Highland Charge against Elliot was unstoppable, leaving Elliot reeling to put Con Z's back in the game.

Mansfield continued the Con Z's onslaught against Grigg who struggled and eventually failed to contain Mansfield's potting expertise. So 2-2 it was and into the final fame. Hall, for the Con Zs, maintained the pressure and arrested any attempt by last minute substitute Roger Shrimpton to get into the frame. It was a fine comeback for the Con Zs after their initial shaky start.
