THE Plymouth 10k January Jaunt organised by Plymouth Round Table was once again sold out well in advance of the event in which all proceeds go to local charities.
This is a highly enjoyable mainly Tarmac race which starts and finishes at Plymouth Speedway track, Saint Boniface Arena in Plympton before heading out to Saltram House and back for a fast finish.
Running their first timed race in a BATs vest were Dominika Nawalany, Ben Saul and Paul Ashton. The cold conditions and good going underfoot produced some great times, and while official results were unavailable at the time of going to press, club chairman Martin Head scored a course and distance personal best, as did lady BAT Hilary Head while Julie Page managed a course PB.
Other BATs flying the flag for their club were Lisa Birch, Hazel Bickley, Su Williams, Sam Harte-Latremouille, Tanya Argue, and Kate Medhurst.
Meanwhile, solo lady BAT Marcia Macey made the journey to Dawlish to compete in the Oh My Obelisk!
This year, race organisers Dawlish Coasters offered new route distances of half marathon, with a shorter nine-mile option for those looking for a shorter distance and less hills. However, both races including plenty of mud and spectacular views, and having in common green lanes, forest tracks, country lanes and fields which take runners up to Haldon Forest and back circling the Obelisk.
Marcia opted for the longer, half-marathon route, and was pleased to complete this challenging race in cold and arduous conditions.
