IT was another busy weekend for members of Bere Alston Trekkers (Bats) with members taking part in three events.

At the 10k Rock Solid event at Escot Park the weather gave those taking part torrential rain, sunshine, hailstones and ice cold temperatures!  Competitors had hay bales to climb with 6ft, 8ft and 12ft walls! A cargo net, barbed wire in a river, forced runners to drag themselves under it, with face submerged. Then onto tunnels full of ice cold river water! Log carrying up crazy hills, carrying a sandbag 1k, over a wall and into ditches as well as water cannons - courtesy of Dorset firefighters.

Bats Nathan and Laura Newton and James and Emma Coole took it in their stride.  Nathan come home in a time of 1hr 09mins and in fourth place out of more than 2,000 and not far behind him was James who finished in 1.33.

The ladies decided to stay together and finished in a great time of 2.30.

At the Mizuno Reading Half Marathon Ben Neale ran an absolutely brilliant race in lashing rain and the bitter cold to finish in a new personal best of 1.18.08 and in 124th position out of 19,000.  Fellow Bat Ruth MacIntyre finished in 1.55.00.

The Mad March Hare held in Plympton started and finished at the Plymouth Speedway track taking in Saltram House.

Bats Hilary and Martin Head both ran two minute personal bests - Hilary in 1.18.12 and Martin 52.59mins.

A large colony of Bats will be taking part in next week's Tavy 13.
