BERE Alston Trekkers (BATs) took part in two events this weekend, in Plymouth for the 10k and Loch Ness in Scotland for its marathon on and 5k races.
Four BATs made the short journey into Plymouth for the Plymouth 10K, which was run on closed roads starting, and finishing, in Plymouth City Centre; runners benefitted from one of the flattest 10K routes in the region. The race started in New George Street before turning into Royal Parade onto Exeter Street and Gdynia Way and the Embankment before turning and returning to the finish in Royal Parade.
The first BAT home, in a time of 47 minutes 50 seconds was Chris Anthony, followed by Ben Saul 58.30, Kelly Shaw 1.13.07 and Pauline Cole 1.14.20.
Meanwhile at the other end of the country, Dave Adams took part in the Loch Ness Marathon which starts on the shores of Loch Ness and heads to Inverness.
This was Dave’s 10th marathon and he finished in a time of 3 hours 48 minutes 15 seconds. Pam Adams took part in the Loch Ness 5K, having had to withdraw from the marathon having contracted a skin condition. Pam and Dave, with friends and former BATs Janice and Simon Fuller and Heather and Mike Smith, all ran in aid of the British Skin Foundation, raising in excess of £800.
