THE annual Peter Bartlett Youth Regatta takes place at Roadford Lake on September 22.

The event aims to introduce new sailors to racing and support and encourage those looking to improve their racing.

This fun day of sailing, for novice to advanced sailors aged 8 to 18, will run from 10am to 4pm. Entry is £15 per person and includes a barbecue lunch.

Phil Timings, Roadford Lake outdoor and active manager said: 'The annual Peter Bartlett Cup encourages and develops young sailors into racing and is always a great day on the water.'

In the afternoon Peter Bartlett, the first patron of South West Lakes Trust and former chairman of the Royal Yachting Association for the South West region, will present the prizes.

As past commodore of Brixham Yacht Club he promoted water sports for disabled people and emphasises that age should not be a barrier in taking up sailing.

There will be a limited amount of boats available for hire so booking in advance is recommended.
