LEWDOWN 2nds earned a well deserved victory against Kingsbridge last week. Kingsbridge won the toss and chose to bat first and that decision seemed entirely justified as their opening batsmen reached 84 without loss.

However, a wicket fell in the first over after the drinks break with Yeo removing James Ellis for 40 caught behind. Fellow opening batsman James Ford was removed for 44 and the wickets began to tumble steadily as Kingsbridge amassed a total of 161 for 9.

Clements took 3 for 16 in his allotted nine overs being the pick of the  bowlers with fellow spinner Pearce taking three wickets.

Kingsbridge bowled tidily to reduce Lewdown to 22 for 2 but steady partnerships meant that the total was reached without further concern as Hawkins (32), Yeo (21)  and Brown (23) all made contributions and Pearce and Hayden saw Lewdown over the line with 18 no and 36 no respectively to reach 165 for 5.

Mark Edmonds was the pick of the Kingsbridge bowling with 44 for 2.
