IN the Tavistock Snooker League back to back maximum scores were the reward for West Devon A as they produced another 5-0 win, this time at the expense of a recently rejuvenated Con C.

It was a baptism of fire for new Con C's Weldon. In his first ever league game saw him pitted against the seasoned Morris. It was Morris that showed the required composure to take the frame although Weldon showed some promising touches.

Next up was Wilkinson for Con C, who produced some good potting spells but was overcome by a steady Taylor who took the all-important black ball to win the frame.

Kevin Rich, who although not on top of his game, managed to get over the line despite Con C's Roffey constantly chipping away at his lead. Four up came as West Devon's Heathman despatched Cath Friend with relative ease.

The Con C's only hope of picking up a frame fell to Neale, although this hope soon evaporated as Neale stuck on two points, could only watch as West Devon's Emptage got in around the pack and scored heavily. A rare mistake from Emptage let Neale back in but it was too little too late, the damage had been done and Emptage rode out the frame and a maximum five for his team.

With both teams so far unbeaten this season Conservative A v West Devon B seemed set to be a tough one and so it panned out to be.

Longden got Con A going with a controlled victory over Smith; despite some 'one off' good pots from Smith it was the superior break building of Longden (20) that proved ultimately decisive. The next frame was a treat of crisp clean potting from both players, but it was West Devon's Rich (junior) that pounced on an error from Babb to take the last two balls to sneak the frame by one point in a hundred. Carruthers for the Con A seemed on track for a comfortable win when he knocked in a good 31, but Hoare made him sweat for a while before Carruthers eventually wrapped it up.

Evans toiled for a while against some solid potting from West Devon's Toland, but as is often the case Evans came up with the goods to take the Con A 3-1 up. In the final frame Lacey weathered the idiosyncrasies of Rich (senior) as he turned in a most workmanlike performance to make it 4-1 for the Con A.
