CONSERVATIVE A showed great character and resolve to fight off a strong West Devon A challenge and came from behind twice to hold on to their top spot in the Tavistock Snooker League.

West Devon A's Emptage (24) was taking no prisoners as he produced a near flawless display of potting to dispatch Con A's Lacey in comfortable style. The reply for the Con As came from Carruthers who, despite a comfortable early lead courtesy of a 24 break, had to fight off a spirited comeback from Heathman.

The frame was in the balance right up to the end with Carruthers having to negotiate a tricky free ball snooker situation and pot the pink and black to overcome the tenacious Heathman.

West Devon A were soon in the lead again after a protracted safety game which suited Morris as he stifled the life out of Evans (senior) and potted anything that was loose to take the frame.

If ever it was a timely moment for Con A's Cook to win his first game of the season it was now, in order to keep his side in the match. This he did in a scrappy frame against Taylor, picking off the pots left up for him as Taylor struggled to find any sort of rhythm.

West Devon A probably thought they were in pole position as they went in to the deciding frame with Kevin Rich facing up to Con A's Babb. Once again though Babb showed what a dangerous player he can be as he came through the early tense stages the better of the two and proceeded to take some good pressure pots and never let Rich settle. In the end, courtesy of a couple of solid long pots, it was all over. Babb's victory had enabled Conservative A to complete the double over West Devon A and stretch their lead over them at the top to two points.

Conservative B bounced back from the previous week's reversal with a good 3-2 result away to West Devon D.

Dolan for the Con B produced a solid win against the useful Decieco. It was soon 2-0 Evans (junior) encountering little resistance from West Devon D's skipper Hooper.

Murton pulled back one for West Devon with a good black ball win over the recently resurgent Monk to keep his side in with a shout. Any chance of a West Devon win though was soon dispelled as in form Shrimpton (junior) came up against a rock solid McKechnie (junior) who controlled and took the frame.

A consolation for West Devon came as Shoulders got back to his winning ways with a well worked win over Con B's Lillicrap.

This was a good win for Conservative B which keeps them in second place.
