Teignmouth 4
Okehampton Argyle 0
ARGYLE were no match for second placed Teignmouth on the day. Although all the players put in plenty of effort, too many passes went astray and the defence was exposed on its right flank all afternoon.
Teignmouth took the lead on 12 minutes when Hayden Roe was given far too much room on the left and his cross was driven home into the roof of the net by Sam Chapman for a tremendous finish.
Argyle tried to come back and looked dangerous down the left with the speed of Gary Hird who was subject to a string of fierce tackles, but it was Teignmouth who continued to make the better chances.
Okehampton did well to keep the deficit to just one goal at the interval, thanks to a string of brilliant saves from goalkeeper Matt McDonough, who was deputising for the unavailable Craig Mulholland.
Argyle were forced to replace the injured Hird at half time and brought on another talented youngster Ollie Crimmins. He also found that running at the home defence was likely to be halted by fierce physical tackling. Argyle put together some better moves for the first quarter of an hour after the break but the game was killed on 62 minutes when a quick break upfield by Terry Breslan saw him outpace the Oke defence and cross from wide on the left for Roe to stab home from close range.
Despite Oke-hampton's efforts to get back into the game, the match was sealed on 78 minutes when Chapman chipped home to notch his second goal of the afternoon after another break down the left.
To their credit Argyle never gave up and were unlucky when a header from John Wiseman hit the bar, but with four minutes left, Teignmouth completed the scoring when Finn Graham fired home from 20 yards.
