Yelverton v Filleigh

YELVERTON first XI captain Richard West is refusing to get complacent despite his team comfortably topping the division after seeing off Filleigh at Langton Park on Saturday.

The Bohemians opened up a 15-point gap at the top of the division ahead of nearest rivals Countess Wear after winning their fourth game in a row.

Filleigh made 202-8 with Matt Tamsett the pick of Yelverton's bowlers with 3-30 before Yelverton batted to a five wicket victory.

Viv Korhari made 66 and Steve Luffman 47 as the home team racked up 203-5 and collected 19 points into the bargain.

West said he was pleased with his team's start despite concerns before the start of the season that the club might not have enough players for the first team.

The Yelverton captain said: 'We're not getting complacent, even though we've had a good start.

'Obviously, if you finish in the top two, you go up, and that's what we've been trying to do at Yelverton ever since we got into the D division. If we don't do it this year, it will still be the aim next year, and the year after that.

'We've had some people leave, but the important thing is that the ones that are left step forward and they are doing that.

'We're can call on 20 players who can compete as well as anyone in this division.'
