Crediton 2

THE Lambs suffered another setback to their challenge to regain promotion to the Premier League against a plucky Crediton outfit.

With Dave Hallett unavailable the manager made several changes from last week's starting line up.

The Lambs got off to a fast start and soon had the Crediton defence under pressure. In the sixth minute the home team almost took the lead when Carlton Farnham and Jarryd Kelly combined well but Kelly's goal bound shot was blocked by a defender. Four minutes later a shot from Josh Robbins was deflected wide of the target.

Farnham and Jordan Williams inter changed passes but Williams' shot from the angle of the penalty area flashed over the cross bar. Williams then produced a fine cross but Kelly's header skimmed the top of the bar.

The visitors produced a fine counter attack in the 31st minute and a great cross from Lloyd Copp found Richard Blake in the penalty area but his header went just wide of the target.

Jarryd Kelly scored the opening goal in the 35th minute.

Crediton defended well as the home team continued to press forward to try and increase their lead. In the 40th minute Dan Follett had a thunderous shot from 22 yards brilliantly saved by Keast.

The home team thought they had increased their lead in the 42nd minute, when a cross from Lewis Edwards was headed home, but the referee had already blown his whistle for off side.

The Lambs continued to press early in the second half and a free kick taken by Farnham saw Lewis Daw rise high in the penalty area but his powerful header flashed over the bar.

Crediton then rallied and they almost equalised in the 51st minute when Ben Pike shot over the bar when well placed.

Kelly was again on hand when a terrific shot from Josh Robbins could only be parried by visiting keeper Nathan Keast, as he stroked the rebound home from six yards.

The Lambs looked in complete control until the 70th minute when a short goal kick to Luke Rundle saw the defender slip on the slippery surface and lose possession to Josh Badhaam who took the opportunity to side foot the ball into the net.

Two minutes later the visitors scored the best goal of the game when a counter attack down the right saw a perfect cross into the penalty area and Richard Blake was on hand to thunder a header past Piper in the home goal to level the scores.

n This Saturday the first team are at home to St Martins, kick off 3pm.

n The Reserves visit Elburton Villa, kick off 2.30pm.
