AN otherwise quiet Easter weekend in the race calendar saw Northern Bere Alston Trekker Andy Cowden competing in the Llandudno Easter 5k Promenade Dash in Wales.

This fast and flat 5k is now firmly established on the local running calendar. As always, there were Easter eggs and other seasonal goodies on offer, plus a medal waiting for the finishers.

The route uses an accurately measured fast and flat out and back course along the Llandudno Promenade, suitable for experienced runners and beginners alike; for the more experienced, it’s a good chance to record a personal best, and for beginners it’s a nice, flat introduction to 5km races.

The event also includes a short children’s race. The race supports the Little Orme Lions Club.

In rather wet and windy conditions, Andy finished 62nd out of 230 competitors in a time of 23 minutes 05 seconds.
