A SUPERB achievement was made by Tavistock Swimming Club member Alex Hobbs when he recently travelled to Manchester Aquatics Centre to compete in the National Para-Swimming Championships (long course).

Many of the top British para-swimmers, including Olympic swimmers, competed at this event.

Ten year-old Alex competed in the 10-13 years age group and achieved a gold in the 400 metres freestyle and silvers in the 100m backstroke, 50m and 100m freestyle in the S7 classification category. Alex achieved personal best times in all his events.

The club said a special well done to Alex on his excellent results at the national championships.
