THE Active Villages Project is coming to an end after providing funding to numerous local community clubs and after school coaching sessions in village primary schools.
Bere Alston Football Club is one of the last to benefit from the project. They were supplied with 20 new match balls which were presented to them on Saturday before their friendly match with Tavistock AFC.
Meavy, Walkhampton, Lifton, Lamerton, Milton Abbot, Gulworthy, Mary Tavy, Princetown, Horrabridge and Whitchurch have all benefited from the Active Villages Project with new table tennis, street dance, short mat bowls, pilates, running and badminton clubs being set up around the communities and existing sports clubs, scout and youth groups receiving coaching sessions and financial assistance to purchase new equipment or train up coaches.
n If you are interested in taking up a new sport or joining a sports club near you then have a look at the OCRA website where there is a list of sports clubs for both the Okehampton and Tavistock areas.
