TAVISTOCK Athletic Club's athlete of the month is Andy Houghton.

Andy, who has been running with the club for the last four years, was presented with the trophy by vice chairman Keith Bowles, in recognition of his achievement in gaining an overall UKA Diamond Award for his excellent age-category times over 5k, 10k, 10mile, half marathon and marathon distances.

Andy's time for the Bideford 10-miler set a new club record for the M65 age group, and he finished 54th in his group in the London Marathon last year.

In accepting the trophy, Andy thanked both Dotty Allan and Keith for their support, and particularly Pete Bazley, leader of the Bedford group, for his highly enjoyable sessions.
