Walkies for Rescue Returns!

Lace up your walking boots, bring your four-legged friends and join Margaret Green Animal Rescue for a 4.5-mile walk through the glorious countryside.

The charity is pleased to be hosting the popular Walkies for Rescue event at their Wingletang Rescue & Rehoming Centre near Tavistock (PL19 0LF) on Sunday 6th September.

The route will start from the centre at 10am, with arrivals welcome from 9:30am, and follow a scenic journey along the edge of Dartmoor National Park, before finishing at the Peter Tavy Inn.

Not only is this a great opportunity to immerse yourself in stunning surroundings, meet new people and enjoy a day out with your canine companions, but you will also be helping to raise essential funds for rescue animals in need.

Margaret Green Animal Rescue provides a safe haven for animals who have become homeless due to changing circumstances, as well as those who have suffered neglect, mistreatment or abandonment. Every animal in their care is treated with kindness, compassion and respect.

The charity’s mission is to create a nurturing environment where animals can recover, rebuild trust and prepare for a loving new home. With a strong focus on welfare, each animal receives the highest standard of care, including nutrition, comfort and veterinary support.

Rehoming lies at the heart of the organisation’s work. Through a thoughtful and thorough process, the team carefully matches animals with suitable owners, helping to create lasting, positive relationships built around each animal’s needs.

As the charity receives no Government funding, it relies entirely on the generosity of supporters to continue its vital work. By taking part in Walkies for Rescue, you will be raising awareness and supporting vulnerable animals in need of a second chance.

There’s no need to pre-register - simply turn up on the day. Sponsorship forms can be downloaded in advance from the charity’s website or collected at the Wingletang centre.

Friends, family and dogs are all encouraged to come along for what promises to be a fun-filled day of wagging tails, muddy paws and plenty of smiles - all in support of a fantastic cause.
