South Zeal Utd 2
Colyton 1
ZEAL managed to record their fourth league win of the season against a good side on Saturday.
In the first half Zeal had the better of the first 20 minutes and could have been two or three goals up but had to settle for a one-goal lead. It came midway through the half when Nick Pollard received a great through ball from Garry Smith. Pollard beat his defender and crossed for Alan Vile to finish from close range.
Colyton then came at Zeal with a vengeance and only great defending by Zeal allowed the home side to go into the second half still a goal up.
Colyton started the second half as they finished the first and drew level when a cross from the left beat the defence and allowed a forward to finish from close range.
Colyton continued to dominate with some slick football and it took great defending by Zeal to keep them out, with centre back Tom Reilly outstanding.
Zeal weathered the storm and started to create good chances with Alan Brimacombe and Alan Vile going close on several occasions.
With five minutes left a corner from the right was turned into his own goal by the visiting keeper to give Zeal another much needed victory.
This week Kentisbeare away, kick-off 3pm.
