A MEDAL competition in memory of Bill Bower, a founder member of Hurdwick Golf Club, who died several years ago, was held last Sunday week. For the first time, there was a lady winner with ladies? captain Yvette Wood taking the Bill Bower cup on countback from Harry Bee, both returning excellent net scores of 64. In third place was Roger Downing with 67 and Paul Mace and Tony Wood shared the ?Two?s? sweep. The midweek medal was won by Paul Mace with a net 65, Tony Wood was second with 67 followed by Ernie Trimble with 70. The only two of the day came form Phil Bryant. On October 14, Hurdwick Golf Club holds its annual charity day to benefit the Motor Neurone Disease Association, in memory of the club?s first secretary, Tim Reeder, who died of the disease. Anyone who knew Tim is welcome to enter. It is a pairs competition, any combination, with an entry fee of £10 per player. Any enquiries to Ray Hurle at either 612746 or 617469.
