A YOUTH project has an extra £548 in its coffers thanks to former West Devon mayor Cllr Jayne Hill. In one of her final duties as mayor, before handing over her chain of office this week, Cllr Hill presented a cheque to her chosen charity Youthwize, the West Devon-based organisation that helps young people. The money was raised by Cllr Hill from a variety of events held throughout her mayoral year. She gave the cheque to Steve Shill, manager of Youthwize, who said the money would be used to buy equipment for the Tavistock centre in Pixon Lane. Cllr Hill said: ?Youthwize is a supportive centre for local teenagers and is an incredibly worthy cause. I?m very pleased to have been able to help them out in this way.? Earlier in the mayor?s year, she presented another cheque for £250 to youngsters from Okehampton College Big Band. The money was raised from the mayor?s civic service and was put towards the band?s concert tour of Hong Kong last October.
