PRIMARY schools in West Devon joined together last night (Wednesday) to entertain audiences at a children's charity concert raising money to support local children with cancer and their families.
Having had only two weeks to organise and practice their pieces, the pupils delighted audiences with a group of boys from Meavy Primary School dressing as girls to be 'Girls Not Allowed', singing and dancing to 'Man! I Feel Like A Woman', and Adam and James Bruce also from Meavy Primary playing the clarinet and saxophone.
Gulworthy Primary School sang 'Soulle', 'Jelly Fish' and 'Halima Pakasholo', pupils from Lamerton Primary sang their renditions of 'Living and Learning', 'Three Little Birds' and 'I Want To Be Like You', while Mary Tavy and Brentor Primary sang 'The Building Song' and 'Thank You for the Music'.
Pupils at Kelly College Preparatory School sang 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight' and 'Run' while Milton Abbot Primary School performed 'Gospel Medley', 'Across the Fields', 'I'm a Believer' and joined up with Lamerton Primary to sing 'Something Inside So Strong'.
Other choirs and musicians also performed and all the children and all the congregation joined together to sing 'This Little Light of Mine' to end the concert.
Admission to the event was free with donations going to Derriford Children's Cancer Service, which organises local support groups and events for children with cancer and their families and funds some of the cancer team, such as psychologists, play-leaders, nurses and social workers.
