TAVISTOCK Athletics junior section has enjoyed great success over the season. They have trained extremely hard with the 'Farah' training group entering a great deal of cross country races.
The Farah group saw Claire Fraser, Sarah Hornby, Rebecca Windemer, Emily Attfield, Emily Ackford, H Tetley, J Kinsey competing in the Brooks Westward league for the girls and Tom Lawson, George Speak, Christian Brown, S Lloyd, J Steven, Harrison Baker, D Smith, Pete Jarman, Theo Brown, Jordan Channon, Josh Boon, Ryan Helcoop, Harry Dunlop and James Best for the boys and new recruit Sam Lane-de- Courtin.
There were six races over the season ending with a race in Redruth on Sunday. Emily Ackford, competing in the under 13 girls section was third place in the series overall while Jordan Channon was undefeated all season and took first place with team mate Josh Boon third overall.
Several of the team - Emily Attfield, Emily Ackford, Josh Boon, Jordan Channon, Harrison Baker, James Best and Alice Rogers and George Speak — represent their counties at the National Inter counties Cross country in Birmingham.
The athletes were also busy competing for their schools. TAC had five runners selected to represent their counties at the English Schools Cross Country final held in Nottingham on March 19.
Congratulations to Emily Ackford, Jordan Channon, Josh Carnell and Ellen Riis-White for making the Devon schools team and to Sam Lane-de-Courtin for making the Cornwall schools team.
Jordan Channon has also been selected by England Athletics as one of six U13s boys to represent the South West at the Virgin London mini-marathon on April 17 while Emily Ackford is a reserve for the girls U13s team.
