A YOUNG Whitchurch Primary School pupil beat off competition from other young writers to have his poem published in an anthology.
Adam Sharp entered the Young Writers poetry competition and his poem 'Winter Surprises' was chosen from hundreds of entries from across the UK and overseas to be published in the 2013 Anthology, Winter Wonders — Festive Favourites. The anthology will be sent to the British Library and libraries across the UK and Ireland.
The competition called 'Winter Wonders' asked children to write about winter. This was his first attempt at writing a poem and he decided to write about all the good celebrations in winter, such as Halloween, All Saints Day, Bonfire Night and Christmas.
Adam was pleased about his poem being published in the anthology and it has made him want to write more. He is now writing a short story for another competition.
