OKEHAMPTON swimming pool was the venue for a junior gala recently with Tavistock fielding many of its younger, less experienced swimmers.
Nicholas Jarman got Tavistock off to a promising start with first place in the 13/under 4 x 25m IM, with Samantha Jarman also winning the same event in the 12/under.
Michael Best claimed Tavistock's next first place in the 13/u 50m breaststroke, followed by Laura Radgick taking first in the 12/u 50m freestyle.
Rebecca Mills took two firsts, having strong swims in both the 12/u 50m fly and the 12/u 50 back. Sam Broome got Tavistock full points by touching first in the 13/u 50m back.
However, Tavistock were unable to maintain their early lead and fell back to third position. Nevetheless, a number of personal best times were achieved and the younger swimmers gained valuable experience.
