YOUNG Farmers? Club members from Lewdown have hit on a novel fundraising scheme this winter ? which they hope will prove a big seller in the run-up to Christmas. Taking up where the Calendar Girls left off, the Lewdown YFC members have produced their own ?tasteful? calendar, featuring a variety of poses with the occasional strategically placed agricultural object to protect their modesty. Club member Fiona Southcott said the idea for the calendar came from chairman Robert Bickle, who had had ?no trouble? persuading other members to strip off for the camera. ?We all thought it was a good idea and thought it would be fun to do ? which it was,? said Fiona. ?The worst part would have to be the embarrassment of having to get naked and teased by the other members ? and being naked in the cold, wet weather, but I am sure everyone agrees that it was worth it, as it was fun and for good causes.? The calendar shots were taken by photographer Sam Clark and took two days to produce. They feature a variety of pictures, including members feeding the cattle, operating a chainsaw, loading straw, going shooting on a quad bike and tightening nuts on a tractor wheel. The project was supported by sponsorship from 12 local businesses and proceeds from the sale of the calendar will boost Lewdown YFC funds and the CLIC charity. Copies are available priced £6 plus postage and packing from Anthony Dawkins, on 077 384 64453.
