FOLLOWING another successful season of youth cricket, Whitchurch Wayfarers held their presentation at the ground on Sunday week.
Club chairman Rob Rawlings introduced Edward Leverton, club development officer for the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and president of the East Cornwall Youth League, who made the presentations.
Mr Leverton praised the coaches and officers of the club for all their hard work, which made Whitchurch Wayfarers one of the most successful local clubs in youth cricket with plenty of parental support.
For the second season running, Whitchurch fielded six youth teams: U11s, U13s and U15s in the Plymouth Palladium League, U12s, U14s and U16s in the East Cornwall Youth League.
Medals were presented to all youngsters who had played this season, with trophies going to the following — Under 11s: best bowler, Tom Honey; runner-up, Bradley Jasper. Best batsman, Shaun Daymond; runner-up, Tom Honey. Sportsman, Tom Sherrell.
Under 12: best bowler, Simon Gliddon; runner-up, Oliver Thomas. Best batsman, Ian Grey, runner-up Oliver Thomas. Sportsman, Greg Johnstone.
Under 13: best bowler, Nick Lane; runner-up Julian Faulkner. Best batsman, Seamus Crawford, runner-up Tom Jackson. Sportsman, Tom Gruitt.
Under 14: best bowler, James Kaminski; runner-up, Darren Sambells. Best batsman, Ali Falconer, runner-up James Kaminski. Sportsman, Joel Smith.
Under 15: best bowler, James Lake; runner-up, Oliver Field. Best batsman, Richard Hall; runner-up James Aggiss. Sportsman, Tom Stenning.
Under 16: best bowler, Peter Freedman, runner-up Peter Williams. Best batsman, Peter Freedman, runner-up Simon Bailey. Sportsman Tom Heap.
The Beaver Cup for the most promising colt was presented to Richard Hall — during the season he made 1015 runs, took 31 wickets and held 12 catches.
