The Stannary winning Hash team, at the Albaston Relay, set off from outside the Queens Arms, Albaston with encouraging cheers from the crowd, marking the start of the Albaston Carnival. The team ? Andrew Vernon, Alan Herdman, Laurence Sargeant, Chris Eastaugh and William Murray ? ran through drenching rain to be the first Hash team beating their rivals, Tamar Valley. The race, which included more than 20 teams of five runners, is run as a relay with each runner running the hilly two mile course around the lanes of East Cornwall. Stannary finished the ten miles in a time of 58 minutes and 30 seconds, a really good time for a team whose combined ages totalled 205 years!
