ORGANISERS of a successful art festival in Okehampton are looking for people to help organise next year's event.

The inaugural Art Okehampton 13 Festival ran earlier this month, showcasing the work of many artists and aspiring artists from West Devon .

The festival was a great success, attracting dozens of visitors each day, as well as dignitaries, including the mayor of West Devon Cllr Bill Cann and county Councillor Kevin Ball to the launch event.

Several hundred works were displayed across the Charter Hall, the Ockment Centre hall, the John Young Gallery in the Museum of Dartmoor Life and the new sports pavilion in Simmons Park.

The aim of Art Okehampton 13 was to support and promote the visual arts community, as well as inspire and encourage new artists to pursue creative expression. Many artists, art groups, clubs and schools submitted paintings, drawings and photography for display.

The event was organised by the Art Okehampton Festival Group. The group is looking for more members to help with the organisation of next year's event.

The plan is to hold the event in the autumn of 2014, running the festival for a full week.
