TAVISTOCK Young Farmers? Club received two awards at the recent annual meeting of Devon YFC in Tiverton.

In the county challenge cups and awards, Tavistock was given the award for the ?club outstanding in skills for life?.

Tavistock club secretary Donna Penwill said they were ?very pleased? to win the award, due to all the hard work put in by members.

The award is for the number of certificates gained by members for various topics, ranging from first aid to public speaking, sheep shearing and stock judging ? all subjects for which Tavistock members have been awarded certificates over the past year. In all 28 certificates were gained.

The club was also awarded the Kellogg Shield for the South Dartmoor group.

Devon YFC is divided into six groups, each group nominating one club from its area for the Kellogg Shield. The Tavistock club is the largest in the South Dartmoor group, having more than 40 members.
