AFTER two weeks of inclement weather the Yelverton Golf Club's veteran section playing year at last got underway on January 19.
The results of the three ball competition were as follows: 1, Eric Whyte, Mike Ferris and Paddy Westall, with 82 points; 2, Bryan Blaber, Nick Ring and Peter Smerdon, with 81; 3, Mike Bates, Ray Bennett and Mike Martin, 80.
On January 20 four pairs competed in the Veterans' Team Jamboree at Saunton Golf Club. Eighteen clubs took part in this team betterball Stableford event.
Yelverton came a very creditable second to the home team. The successful Yelverton team were: Don Read and Mike Ferris, Keith Stokes and David Jeremiah, Eric Whyte and Mike Bates, Graham Plumb and Mike Martin.
