THE ladies of Yelverton Golf Club were well represented at the Devon County Ladies' Golf Association County Silver Open held at Royal North Devon on June 21.

Laura Eastwood won the Stella Temple Memorial Cup for the best scratch score and Gilly Jarvis came third and Belinda McSherry won the captain's prize. Di Friend won the scratch cup for the 16-20 handicap players.

The Still Cup team has had two good victories at away matches against Holsworthy and Royal North Devon, winning both 5-2.

Perriton, Caroline Theyer, Marie Watson, Bunty Salz and June Smalley, is playing well and is well supported by their captain, Jean James and lots of 'caddies'.

The Sheelagh Creasy team is finding a lot of tough competition. They played a home match against Woodbury Park on June 21 and fought bravely, but lost 5-2. There were excellent wins from Evelyn Dyche and Chris Longden.

Laura Eastwood and Belinda McSherry won their fourth round match of the Daily Mail Foursome competition against Bigbury, at Bigbury on June 20.

Gilly Jarvis has won the Cyril Baker Cup, a knockout competition, winning the final against Di Friend.

On June 13 the ladies played the qualifying round of the Express and Echo foursomes competition. Margaret Flanagan and Dawn Bolt won with 33 points from Caroline Theyer and Helen Harris on the back nine holes. However, both couples qualified to compete in the finals in Exeter on July 25.

On June 20, Yelverton Ladies played the June stableford and those eligible, competed for the Grandmother's Cup.

The silver division was won by Anne Ashley with 38 points, second was Trudi Luke with 37 points and third was Di Friend also with 37 points. The bronze division was won by Aine Binchy with 41 points, second was Julie Percy with 39 points and third was Diane Reardon with 35 points. Aine Binchy, Jean James and Barbara Perriton all did one hole in two shots. The Grandmothers' Cup was won by Julie Percy.
