Devon second XI?B
Yelverton seconds v South Devon seconds
YELVERTON'S seconds suffered a disappointing loss away to South Devon seconds on Saturday.
An excellent bowling and fielding display restricted South Devon to 187-9 off their 46 overs on a good batting track in Newton Abbot, with skipper Chris Pearson taking 3-26 off 11, and Andy Taylor 4-60 off 13 taking the bowling honours.
Yelverton's reply never really got going, with some poor shot selection not helping their cause as they were bowled out for a paltry 62, to lose by 125 runs. Skipper Pearson top scored with 15, closely followed by Tom Watkins with 14.
At one point they were 38-6 before Dan Cooper and Pearson put on 24 for the seventh wicket. Once Cooper was dismissed with the score on 62, the last four wickets fell without further addition.
For South Devon, Charlie Hackett took 7-39 off 12 overs and Ian Shepherd 2-5 off 5. It was all over after 24 overs of Yelverton's innings.
