THREE Tavistock College students from one family are celebrating outstanding success at the World Youth Windsurfing Championships.
Twin sisters Saskia and Imogen Sills, 13, and their brother Sam, 16, won two titles and came second in another.
The Sills family won nearly every race in their age groups during last week's event at Portland Harbour in Dorset.
Saskia won the Techno under-15s girls' title, with Imogen coming second after a battle with her sister for the title all week. The Sills twins swapped the lead over the course of the regatta before a nailbiting final race climax saw Saskia snatch the gold ahead of her sister.
Sam triumphed in the Techno under-17 boys' event, leading from day two and picking up no fewer than eight race wins in his 11-race series.
Sam, who also won gold at the European championships at Lacanau near La Rochelle in April this year, said the standards had been 'really high' and it had been a good contest.
'People may have expected me to do well but I try not to let that pressure bother me and I actually tend to do better when the pressure's on,' he said.
'It was a really tough competition, the fleet was double the size of the Europeans and the standards been really high.
'I've been really pleased with my speed this week and have managed to stay consistent.'
Sam was also the under-15 boys' champion in 2007.
The surfers are supported by their mother and father, Carole and Richard, who take them to events in their camper van.
Richard said they travelled more than 12,000 miles a year going to championships, which has included going to Poland for previous world championships.
Richard said they were 'very proud' of all three, who had worked really hard.
Sam started competing when he was nine and the girls have been racing for four seasons.
In the European championships the twins won silver and bronze.
