THE WORLD Cup-themed midsummer festival gets underway in North Tawton this Saturday, June 17. The week-long festival gets underway with a street market in the town from 10am to noon, followed in the evening by a bingo in the town hall, eyes down 8pm. North Tawton Town Council will also be opening its new offices in the square at noon. If you would like to book a table-top for the market ? cost £5 ? contact Lin Ford on 01837 82566. The festival spirit continues on Sunday, June 18, with an open air service in the square at 11am, a car treasure hunt at 2pm plus a coffee afternoon with cream teas and bingo from 3pm. Other events during weekday evenings include a whist drive, children?s disco, quiz night and film show in the town hall. Next Friday, June 23, the town hall plays host to a country and western night. Posters detailing further events as part of the festival will be on display around the town and in Linfords? shop window.
