TRAINEES taking part in the C-FAR programme organised a charity car wash on Bank Holiday Monday, which raised more than £220 for the Winsford Centre at Halwill Junction.

The car wash was held throughout the day at Whitehouse Services, Okehampton.

The Centre For Adolescent Rehabilitation at Burdon Grange, Highampton, encourages trainees to engage in voluntary and charitable work.

The decision to raise funds for the Winsford Centre came from the trainees taking part in the eleven-week Life Change programme at the centre.

They identified some of the immediate needs of the Winsford Centre ? including hanging baskets and garden enhancements.

The Winsford Trust is made up of local residents, parish and borough council members and volunteers.

They provide a luncheon club for the over 50s, supervised bathing facilities for the elderly, a GP satellite surgery, volunteer training, a mother and baby group, community bus and a Citizens Advice Bureau.

The Winsford Centre is also looking to develop a youth facility within Winsford with participation in its development from young people in the area.

C-FAR would like to thank Eric Snowdon, owner of Whitehouse Services for allowing them to use the premises and for his generosity and kindness which helped make the day a huge success.
