TAVISTOCK Under 16s have just returned from a successful end of season tour to Belgium.
Based in Liege, the squad benefited from, in equal measure, an extensive programme of rugby and relaxation which included an inter-squad training match ahead of three challenging fixtures within an U17s tournament in Gent.
Playing some of the finest rugby of the season, Tavistock beat the host club 10 tries to nil, then lost narrowly to the eventual winners Coalville 3-1, and then played some outstanding rugby which epitomised the spirit of this side with a creditable 2-2 draw against Burton RFC.
With every player playing well above their normal performance levels, the player of the tournament was awarded to all of the squad.
Other activities for the squad included a visit to the Movie World theme park in Germany and a competitive go-karting challenge in the city of Liege. All returned well satisfied with their efforts, having represented Tavistock Rugby Club with distinction.
