Bodmin Town 2
Callington Town 1
TWO defensive lapses let the home side steal the points in this well contested game.
With a side hit by injury and non-availability, the makeshift squad battled from the start. But Bodmin created the early chances with Richard Lowe seeing his header well saved by Wayne Wormold.
They opened the scoring on 14 minutes. Paul Harris picked up the ball on the edge of the Callington area on the right and drilled a low shot past Wormold into the opposite corner.
The visitors' recent signing, 19-year-old Kevin Richards started the second half in tremendous style. On 49 minutes he won the ball on the left and crossed to the unmarked Hicks. The captain steadied before releasing a shot that was cleared off the line for a corner.
Callington were rewarded on 75 minutes when Hicks raced clear of the Bodmin defence before shooting low past the home keeper to the delight of his team-mates.
Harris saw another shot well saved by Wormold three minutes later but with seven minutes left, Mark Vercesi hit a low shot which sneaked in at the far post to restore the home side's lead.
Hicks agonisingly hit the post in the dying seconds for Callington.

CALLINGTON'S lingering hopes of catching the league leaders disappeared as the Saints gained revenge for their Junior Cup defeat.
The visitors took the lead on 20 minutes through John Venning and, although teenage striker Stuart Taylor equalised for Town early in the second half, the Saints won the game when Rob Pope netted late on for the winner.

ALTHOUGH playing well below their best, Callington were still too good for their lowly opponents.
Town were in front in the second minute when Andrew Shorten ran through before firing low past the keeper.
Although presented with numerous chances, the visitors could not add to their score until two minutes into the second half when they were awarded a fortuitous penalty and Keiron Ruck drilled home the spot kick. Ruck gained his second on the hour and Tom Hill finished off the scoring late on.
