PARENTS and children from Tavistock Children's Centre recently enjoyed a fun woodland family day at Alder in Lewdown. The children took part in various activities, including storytime at the tipi, outdoor cooking, den building and mud painting.

Alder Woodland hosts numerous activity days for families, children and local schools. The woods are part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme and often used for adult learning and school groups attending through Family Learning sessions.

There is a mixture of habitats, undercover area for enjoying bread cooked on an open fire and a traditionally made tipi for storytelling and native American art sessions.
