FIRECREWS from Bere Alston spent several hours tackling a blaze at Hanging Cliff Woods at South Hooe, near Weir Quay last Thursday afternoon.
Station officer Colin Shaw said around 3,000 square metres of woodland and undergrowth were damaged during the fire.
Mr Shaw said the woods had apparently been burning for several days and warned people to report fires to the fire brigade as soon as they noticed them. It is not known how the blaze started.
