THE first hockey tournament of the season, at King's School Bruton, brought out some excellent performances from the Mount House under-11 girls.
Their first match resulted in a 1-0 win against Monkton through a great solo goal from Becky Manton, who dribbled around two Monkton defenders before slotting the ball past the keeper.
The second game saw Mount House up against a strong Millfield team.
With some fine goalkeeping from Helen Jackman and solid defensive play by Betty Stone and Millie Ridgers, the score stayed level for most of the game, before Millfield scored two late goals.
Mount House controlled most of their game against Godolphin, and a very good performance was rewarded with a victory by the only goal as Maddie Hine scored with a strong shot after a determined run.
Despite winning two of their three games, Mount House were unlucky to miss out on the semi-finals on the number of goals scored, though their performance certainly bodes well for the rest of the season.THE first hockey tournament of the season, at King's School Bruton, brought out some excellent performances from the Mount House under-11 girls.
