A YOUNG woman passenger suffered serious injuries in a road accident near Roborough last week.

Fire crews from Yelverton and Crownhill had to remove panels from the overturned transit van so medics could get to the 22-year-old inside.

She was taken to Derriford Hospital with neck, head and suspected spinal injuries after being lifted from the wreckage on a spine board.

The van, which was being driven by a 23-year-old man, ended up on its roof on a grass verge after skidding off the main A386 during wet, foggy conditions.

The accident occurred just before 1am last Friday by the turning to the Moorland Links Hotel, while the vehicle was travelling from Yelverton to Plymouth.
