POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a hit and run collision which took place on the A30 on Saturday July 14. The incident took place at around 3.50pm, on Saturday July 14, on the Exeter side of Whiddon Down, and involved a black Volvo V60 and a dark-coloured BMW 5 series estate. Police say the black Volvo was in the outside lane, having overtaken a white van and was in the process of overtaking a red Renault Laguna. The Volvo was being closely followed by the BMW, which then undertook it in between passing the Transit and the Laguna. In doing so, the front offside of the BMW collided with the rear off-side of the Volvo. As a result, the Volvo driver lost control and started to spin. The BMW continued to undertake and the front near-side of the Volvo collided with the rear off-side of the BMW. This caused the Volvo to roll. It finally came to rest on its roof. An ambulance attended but the male driver and his passenger both escaped uninjured. The driver of the BMW did not stop to ascertain this and continued on the A30 in the direction of Exeter.
