IN the Daily Mail foursomes first round at Yelverton, Yelverton Golf Club ladies Gilly Jarvis and Lynne Arkison beat Chris Spiers and Margaret Weare of China Fleet. Gilly and Lynne had to give Chris and Margaret four shots, but the Yelverton pair beat China Fleet by 5 and 4 despite being three down after three holes.

Yelverton ladies played their first match at home against Teignmouth on April 12. The weather was beautiful, so  it was a good start to the seasons matches. The match ended in a draw.
