A PRINCETOWN schoolgirl was awarded a prize by her favourite author after winning a short story competition.

Maths is 10-year-old Willow Hufton's favourite subject, but knocking off a prize-winning story was no trouble at all.

'We had to write a story about twins, based on Jacqueline Wilson's book Double Act,' said Willow.

In her story a girl who had always wanted to be a twin found herself with an identical sister after a dream, but she turned out to be a bad girl and the heroine regretted her wish.

'I thought the idea of changing the story back to front would make it more interesting,' she said.

Willow won a signed copy of Double Act. She said she already had a copy, but didn't mind because it was a good book.
